Sycamore Programme – A Wonderful First 10 Sessions

We have recently reached the end of the first ten sessions of the Sycamore Programme in our parish, and it has been a truly uplifting experience. We have been delighted not only with the level of participation, but especially with how much those who attended enjoyed and valued the course.

Participants shared very positive reflections on their experiences. One person said, “I felt that the course gave me a comfort and opened my eyes and heart to the Lord.” Another reflected that “The Sycamore course encouraged participants to reflect on the purpose of this life and the associated questions of faith, hope, suffering and meaning. It was delivered in a gentle way with the emphasis on encouragement.”

Others highlighted the sense of community it brought: “It’s nice to be involved in some activity in parish life. It’s good for mind and body, as it gives a person a view of the way other people live their lives and broadens one’s outlook.” One particularly touching comment simply said, “It brought me back to church.”

The good news is that there is much more to come. If you missed the first ten sessions, don’t worry – you can join the next ten without having attended previously. Each Sycamore session is designed to stand alone, exploring an aspect of our faith and what we believe as Christians.

What happens at Sycamore?

Each session includes a short film followed by open discussion. There is no pressure and no obligation to speak – just a warm welcome, community, friendship, good conversation, and light refreshments. Everyone is welcome, and the programme is completely free.
