We are delighted to share that some members of our Youth Group, Pillar of Fire, have lovingly created a beautiful May Altar in the Pastoral Centre.
The tradition of the May Altar is a long-standing and cherished practice in the Church. May is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God, and throughout this month, flowers, are offered in her honour. Altars are often adorned with statues or images of Mary, surrounded by fresh blossoms, candles, and simple decorations that invite prayer and contemplation.
You might also consider creating a small May Altar in your own home. It need not be elaborate, a simple table or shelf with a picture or statue of Mary, a few flowers (fresh or artificial), and perhaps a candle is enough. This can become a peaceful focal point for daily prayer, whether it’s a moment of quiet reflection, the Rosary, or simply a place to pause and give thanks.
We thank the members of Pillar of Fire for their inspiring contribution, and we encourage everyone to visit the Pastoral Centre to see their beautiful May Altar.
